APPrO - Association of Power Producers of Ontario
APPrO is a non-profi t organization representing more than 100 companies involved in the generation of electricity in Ontario, including generators and suppliers of services, equipment and consulting services. APPrO members produce power from co-generation, hydro-electric, gas, coal, nuclear, wind energy, waste wood and other sources. APPrO’s members currently produce over 95% of the electricity made in Ontario. For the fi rst 17 years of its operation, the organization was known as IPPSO, the Independent Power Producers’ Society of Ontario. In 2002, when Ontario’s electricity market was offi cially opened to competition, the organization began a process in which it broadened its scope to include more generators, and changed its name to APPrO, the Association of Power Producers of Ontario.

Atikokan Bio-energy Research Centre
In 2006, the Ontario government set aside $4 million to establisha bio-energy research program associated with the Atikokan Generating Station. Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE) managed the Atikokan Bio-Energy Research Centre program and secured an $4.5 million in cash and in-kind partner funding. The overall goals of the program were to explore cleaner forms of electricity generation and encourage economic opportunities in the north with a focus on bio-energy resources available in northwestern Ontario.

Biomedical Photometrics Inc.
BPI develops, manufactures and sells slide scanners for digital pathology. The TISSUEScope 4000 scans brightfield and fluorescence whole-mount slides up to 6x8 inches in size with best pixel resolution of 0.5 microns. Multiple slides are mounted in trays (up to seven 1x3 inch slides per tray), and can be imaged automatically. BPI is a private company, based on patented technology originally developed at the University of Waterloo. BPI runs a slide-scanning service for brightfield and fluorescence slides.

Brock University

Canadian Innovation Centre
The Canadian Innovation Centre has been helping entrepreneurs and innovators get their ideas to market for over 30 years. The Centre's Innovation mandate has now been extended to make available a range of tools, resources and educational programs on-line. In addition, the CIC is moving provision of its Critical Factor Assessment and Market Validations tools to an online format, to reduce costs and increase availability.

“Middleware for Sensor-Based Bridge Management”: Bridges are key components in the transportation network and are critical to the economic well being of the society. A major problem with the current bridge infrastructure management approach is that it is compartmentalized and is handled independently by separate organizations. This research project concerns the devising of middleware to unify various resources such as sensors, toolsets, processing and database elements, provided by the different organizations to effectively handle the problem.

The Digital Imaging Group (DIG) of London was established in 2006. DIG is a group of Medical Doctors, Scientists, and Engineers dedicated to improving and advancing digital medical imaging. We are based in London, Ontario, Canada spread across a number of hospitals and research facilities with affiliations throughout the medical and academic communities in London. This group aims at bridging the gap between the technically oriented research community and clinically oriented researchers. Engauge Controls
Engauge is a controls engineering company specializing in standard and custom automated system controls. Engauge is developing new products and processes for the alternative energy sector with the most recent development of an urban verticle wind turbine. With the assistance from the University of Windsor's engineering faculty great strides have been made on optimizing the development through graduate reasearch studies utilizing the University's wind tunnel.
ENT Simulation Technologies Inc.
ENT Simulation Technologies offers one of the first affordable virtual training solutions for surgeons in the Otolaryngology profession (ear, nose, and throat surgery.) The simulator enables medical students and residents to practice diagnosis and surgery on a generic virtual ear with realistic graphics and force feedback. The 3-dimensional representation of the ear can be easily modified to represent a wider variety of pathologies than trainees would be exposed to interacting only with patients that present during their residency.

Tomatosphere ‘Mission to Mars’ - An Educational Outreach Project
Tomatosphere is a research project involving 13,000 Canadian classrooms. In 2010, students will germinate two sets of tomato seeds. One set from the International Space Station and a control group set. Students will be asked to germinate the seeds, but the two sets will not be identified until their results are reported to the web site. This methodology, known as a "blind study" will allow the mystery of the project to be real for the students.

This is a $6 Million three year research project funded by OCE – Centre for Energy, awarded to University of Western Ontario (UWO) and University of Waterloo (UW). The project is co-led by Dr. Rajiv Varma from UWO and Dr. MMA Salama from UW. This project has 10 faculty members from Western and 6 from Waterloo. This project is co-funded by Ontario Power Authority (OPA), Hydro One Networks Inc, First Solar Canada, London Hydro Inc, and Bluewater Power Generation.
University of Windsor / Materials Chemistry of Dyes, Metal Nanoparticles, and Liquid Crystals
Synthesis, characterization, and applications of dyes, metal nanoparticles and liquid crystals is the main expertise of Eichhorn’s group. On display will be projects on liquid crystalline dyes as organic semiconductors and metal nanoparticles as building blocks for anisotropically conductive polymer films/adhesives. Eichhorn’s group is also specialized in variable temperature spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and optical microscopy, thermal analysis, as well as the characterization of anisotropic materials such as liquid crystals and polymer fibres.

An important role of the US Army international Technology Center is to search for dual use (civilian/military) state-of-the-art equipment, technology, and collaborative research opportunities, both applied and basic , that may meet US Army requirements regardless of its source (i.e., university, government, private enterprise).
