Once again, we are proud to be able to say that
Discovery was a great success.
Attracting more than 2,000 participants and more than 300 exhibits, Discovery 12 provided Ontario's innovation community with an amazing show floor and a full program for celebrating the exciting work being done by our entrepreneurs, businesses and researchers across the province.
We are especially happy about meeting our ambitious goal of achieving Guinness World Record status for the World's Largest Business Mentoring Event for Entrepreneurs and Innovators with 328 mentors and protégés taking part. Beyond making history, the event was a valuable and productive session in initiating more than 3,000 business relationships between all participants. Previous attempts in this category have not been successful in meeting the Guinness criteria. And after planning this event, the OCE team can attest to the extreme rigour and detail of the Guinness standards.
We were also pleased to have The Honourable Brad Duguid, Ontario Minster of Economic Development and Innovation with us at Discovery 12 to kick off the mentoring event as well as present Smart Grid project awards to three university researchers whose work is helping to promote the growth of a strong, exciting renewable energy sector in Ontario.
The Minister also served as keynote speaker at our second day luncheon when we named the winners of Discovery's four student competitions.
Our goal each year is to find new and better ways to meet the needs of our participants and to bring them something unique to stimulate ideas and discussion. We hope you will join us again for our eighth Discovery on May 27 & 28, 2013.
